Thought to be « forgotten » for more than two centuries, the region of the restored Jesuit Missions is a UNESCO-listed World Heritage site, known for its cultural accomplishments and history. Follow the circuit and visit the magnificent, centuries-old churches that have been restored in the towns of San Javier, Concepcion etc… This tour ends in Sucre and Potosi before going back for a visit to the vibrant capital of La Paz.
DAY 1 - SANTA CRUZArrival to the Santa Cruz airport (Viru Viru). Transfer and hotel installation. Lunch on your own. Departure to the Güembé Biocentre (35 min). DAY 2 - SANTA CRUZ – CONCEPCIÓN MISSION JESUITBreakfast at the hotel. Early morning departure to Concepcion passing through typically villages. The plains of Chiquitos are among the most revered places in the department of Santa Cruz for its cultural and natural value, this place offers you a beautiful evergreen landscape. Here are located the Jesuit Missions of Chiquitos, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990. The churches that have been rebuilt here are a stunning architectural Jesuit representation of the Mestizo Baroque style. Together, they are home to an impressive collective of more than 5000 baroque music scores; a precious legacy of their colonial history. Arrival at Concepción. Lunch on your own. DAY 3 - CONCEPCIÓN MISSION JESUIT – SAN JAVIER MISSION JESUIT – SANTA CRUZBreakfast at the hotel. Morning departure to San Javier (about 43 miles = 1 1/2 hours) Arrival and visit the baroque church and the village. San Javier is the oldest “Chiquitana” mission. The first music school in the entire region was founded in the village by Jesuit missionaries. It was also the seat of a manufacturing workshop of musical instruments. Around the village, the natural vegetation is characterized by the surprising symbiosis of “bibosi” and “motacú” plants. Today, San Javier is a considered a farming town, with agriculture and livestock. Lunch on your own. Return to Santa Cruz in a timely manner. Dinner on your own. Night in Santa Cruz. DAY 4 - SANTA CRUZ – DOMESTIC FLIGHT TO SUCREBreakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the international airport Viru Viru to catch our flight to Sucre (duration: 30 minutes). Arrival at Sucre, the Bolivia constitutional capital, located at 8,856ft or 2,700m altitude. Sucre is revered by Bolivians as the origin of the independence of their country. Due to its unique colonial aesthetic and historical significance, Sucre is now on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Transfer at hotel.Lunch on your own. In the afternoon, a visit to the city: ASUR Foundation, Liberty House, Ricoleta and San Felipe Neri Covent. Dinner on your own. Night in Sucre. Note: The museums are closed the following days: Liberty House, on Sunday afternoons and all day on Mondays / ASUR and San Felipe de Neri, all day on Sundays. DAY 5 - SUCRE – POTOSÍ – SUCREBreakfast at the hotel. Very early in the morning, departure by private car to visit the city of Potosi, located at 13,353 ft. (3h30) Arrival in Potosi. Potosí, also called the Imperial City of Charles V, is a colonial city with extremely rich history. In one moment, it was a city that was internationally revered after having a larger population than Paris or London. Considered the second city that has the highest altitude in Bolivia, after El Alto (4150m), Potosí offers visitors a different perspective on colonial history and legacy, making it the first Bolivian city to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit to the Historial Center of Potosi. Visit of the Casa de la Moneda. Lunch on your own. Visit of a mineral processing plant. Return to Sucre. Dinner on your own and night in Sucre. DAY 6: - SUCRE – DOMESTIC FLIGHT TO LA PAZBreakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport to catch our flight to La Paz (duration: 35 minutes). Arrival at La Paz, Bolivia capital, located at 11,800 feet altitude. Transfer at hotel. Lunch on your own. Afternoon: Visit of the city, the church of San Francisco, the Rodriguez market, and the Moon Valley that receives its famous name due to the visit of astronaut Neil Armstrong in 1969 after playing golf near the valley. DAY 7 - LA PAZBreakfast at the hotel. At time indicated, transfer to airport for your flight. Baggage check and passenger boarding.
